PriorityOne Group President and CEO Nelson Gomes will present on ambulatory surgery center (ASC) cybersecurity at ASCA 2018, the annual meeting of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, April 11–14 in Boston.
Gomes's session on "ASC Cybersecurity Guidance from the Front Lines" is scheduled for 2:00pm–3:30pm on Friday, April 13. He will be joined on stage by Timothy Russell of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The session's description is as follows: "Cybercriminals are targeting health care organizations of all sizes, including ASCs. Protenus, a patient privacy protection group, reports that in 2016 an average of at least one health data breach per day affected more than 27 million patient records. Failure to take cybercrime seriously could lead to significant legal and financial consequences. Learn about ASC data security requirements, common security vulnerabilities and steps you can take to better protect sensitive data."
The session has been designated by ASCA as an "advanced session." ASC employees who feel they have the basics in their respective fields covered and are looking to improve their skills will find these sessions helpful.
The meeting is expected to be the largest of the year for the ASC industry.
